Your Own Yoga offers services in schools which are designed to actively support the physical, mental and emotional wellbeing of children and young people in Hawke's Bay. From self-esteem building activities to establishing practices which can help to combat and manage anxiety, our schools programmes have the potential to cultivate positive mental health, for life.
WHY OFFER YOGA IN SCHOOLS?
Yes, there are many physical benefits for kids that come with a regular yoga practice but it isn't all about being bendy!

Yoga for kids, tweens and teens has consistently been shown to:

reduce stress and anxiety;

increase the production of 'feel good' hormones and elevate mood and positive emotions;

help them to develop resilience so that they can cope better with negative emotions;

support development of body awareness, eg. proprioception;

build self-esteem and body confidence;

teach self-regulation strategies for positive behaviour management;

help navigate the hormonal spikes in pre-teens and teens... and much MUCH more!
